This article discusses theoretical and applied aspects of the concept of scientific and technical text. Genre and stylistic features of reproduction of scientific and technical texts are investigated on the example of operating instructions of vacuum cleaners-robots. The paper analyzes the characteristic language tools inherent in this genre. Instructions for household appliances belong to the scientific and technical functional style. Scientific and technical style is realized by texts that are aimed to inform the exact facts of a particular field, as well as to consolidate the process of cognition of information. The difference between foreign and domestic scientific and technical texts is in stylistic features at the level of syntax and vocabulary, which should be adapted in translation. For this purpose the removal of redundant elements, concretization and logical development are used. The texts of the operating instructions revealed a large number of scientific and technical terminology and the use of technical phraseology. Lexical and grammatical features of instructions texts are revealed. They are characterized by long, indefinite-personal and impersonal sentences in active and passive voice with a subject expressed by a noun or a subject as “it” or “there”, the use of passive voice and the use of causal conjunctions. Errors in existing translations are detected. These stylistic and lexical and grammatical features of scientific and technical materials directly affect their communicative nature, which must be reproduced in translation. It should be emphasized the importance and necessity of continuing painstaking work to accumulate experience in translating scientific and technical literature and documentation, updating existing and developing new rules to ensure quality and adequate translation that will be understood by the recipient of the language of translation. Therefore, the study of stylistic features of translation of scientific and technical texts has the prospect of further research.
