The importance of a foreign language in training a specialist in the field of law

Abstract

The article examines some aspects and means of teaching English, which provide high-quality professional orientation during the training of legal specialists. The following questions are investigated: issue of career growth of legal specialists who are fluent in a foreign language, linguistic features of legal material, elements of the process of professional orientation, tasks of a law student, development of professional skills and abilities. The purpose of this article is to consider the significance of a foreign language in the field of jurisprudence, aspects and means of study, its influence on the career growth of a specialist in the field of law, as well as the practical use of the English language in the modern world. During the study of such question, I used the comparative method, descriptive method, the method of analysis and synthesis and paid detailed attention to the research of different scholars in this field of investigation. It should also be noted, that the course of legal English should be based on legal terms and characteristic of the country, whose language is being studied. Studying the specifics of grammatical features of legal texts, correct translation of legal terminology, finding the necessary equivalents in the Ukrainian language, understanding differences, nuances of usage, etc., allows to use a foreign language in professional activity. To achieve the level of communicative professional competence, the interaction of the English language Department with other Law Departments is necessary, which will make it possible to update the training material in accordance with the general curriculum. We can conclude that in the current socio-cultural situation, in the context of international integration, the successful legal activity often requires a free command of foreign language, as the language of specialization and the availability of certain translation skills. Therefore, the question of language and law interaction deserves special attention for representatives of this profession.
